Sex Linkage

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

* Quit making that duckface!

* Weak as my lesbian-dar can be, still I have to say that this doesn't come as much of a surprise.

* Photographer David Steinberg drops by a couple of Kink.com events and, despite all the extreme activity on display, finds the whole scene pretty civilized.

* Don't let this happen to you. (Video that's very mildly NSFW)

* Rolling Stone celebrates porn star Sasha Grey. Interesting to learn that Sasha is a fan of the French filmmaker Catherine Breillat. I am too. I blogged about Breillat's brilliant (IMHO, of course) "Brief Crossing" here, and about her not-so-successful (but still fascinating) "The Last Mistress" here. "Romance" strikes me as Breillat's most amazing film. Here's a lengthy essay about "Romance" that I largely agree with.

* Nerve interviews Sasha Grey.

* MBlowhard Rewind: I wondered if porn is becoming -- or has already become -- the new rock and roll.

Best,

Michael

Duckface! I've wondered about that. Is it new? An east coast thing? I never saw it before the internet and I'm not that old - hi skool and college in the 80s 90s.

Interesting about Kelly M being a double-X lover. I remember a movie starring her and Jodie Foster that was ostensibly about a real-life incident involving a gang-rape at a bar in which charges were brought against guys at the bar who didn't participate, but who stood by and cheered (don't remember the outcome of the actual case--I think in the movie our intrepid pretend-hets won and some actors played guys who went to movie jail for a long time).

So the two actresses playing the straight "vic" and her straight (or at least not overtly dutch-antisea-protective-barrier) lawyer were actually of the lickedy-split persuasion. I can't help thinking of Susie Bright's comment that het men have let their sexuality be defined by women who hate that sexuality...aka lesbians.

As always, read Steve Sailer on the differences between lesbians and gays. He's hilarious on the subject, especially the tendency of the woman-to-woman types to insist they speak from their L-word souls to What [All] Women Want.

I've been known to duckface, but only ironically, that's why I call it the "zoolander."

But I'll never stop walking like a duck.

Quit making that duckface!

YES! I've never agreed with something on this blog more. If we could get pornstars to swear to that and to not fake-moaning literally every breath, porn might yet be saved.

the heavens sunder! finally JA says something sensible. the ceaseless fake moaning in porn, all the "uh HUH"s and "oh yes oh yes"s detracts from the true artistry -- penis inserted into vagina.

I'm gonna hearken back to MB's previous posts about porn and rock and art, and point people in the direction of incredibly NSFW Chagrin, a Tumblr blog that scours the internets looking for images both artful and prurient. I defy anyone to say that many of the images posted on 5/9 and 5/10 do not have artistic merit. On top of that, they're sexy as hell. What to make of that? Is this new? I don't know, probably not, but I hadn't seen stuff like this, both hardcore and artistic, until about 6 or 7 years ago. In fact, porn stills were mostly awful, if I remember correctly. No longer.

Of course, not every image there is artful, some are silly, some are nasty. But many of them, IMO

Man, you with the BDSM. You know in real life they're all fat and geeky, right?
