J.T. Redux

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

Susie Bright and Dennis Cooper blog about what it was like to be taken in by "J.T. Leroy." Filmbrain pans a movie that Asia Argento -- who once claimed to be carrying J.T. Leroy's baby -- has made from some J.T. Leroy material. I raved (in a semi-but-not-really-ironic way) about Asia's beyond-narcissistic "Scarlet Diva" here.

Best,

Michael

I was glad to read the earlier piece: I love "Another Day in Paradise" simply because of Kartheiser. I like "Bully" maybe a little more than you; it makes me feel like I am in a really bad nightmare. Or something. After a while, I just start laughing at the story, the dialogue, the direction:A nervous laugh. It also has some good young actors.

Asia Argento's "B Monkey" has been floating around my cable channels for months. I have watched it more than a dozen times. I am not sure if Argento wears any clothes...just kidding. Not a bad movie, with a decent cast supporting her. But I just find her amazing...kind of an unfounded confidence, an unsupportable charisma. She demands you not take your eyes off her, and although I don't know why, I submit.

Susie Bright is a Marxist feminist. This means that, in the middle of her porn screed, she throws ice water on your erection by preaching about class conflict, and the ways in which women can benefit from collectivism.

Although she intially seems otherwise, she is in fact a religious fanatic. Here's my take on her:

I offered to exchange links with her, not because I agree with her, but because she is an interesting and predictable type. She responded that I must come from an abusive family. Stalinist to the core, Susie Bright brooks no disagreement.
