In which a group of graying eternal amateurs discuss their passions, interests and obsessions, among them: movies, art, politics, evolutionary biology, taxes, writing, computers, these kids these days, and lousy educations.

The Fur Flies

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

When feminists have at each other, perhaps the only sane thing to do is step back and dodge the claws, the hair-pulling, and the carnage. Thanks to Steve Sailer, who points out this wild-swinging Germaine Greer attack on -- er, make that "recollection of" -- Betty Friedan. Germaine seems to have found Betty egocentric and insufficiently revolutionary.

Steve himself has recently been ripping Malcolm Gladwell a new one, and setting forth a doctrine of his own -- which he calls "citizenism" -- that I find very appealing.

Best,

Michael

Rush Limbaugh on this topic:

Q. Who are your top three Femi-Nazis?

A. Betty Friedan, Catharine MacKinnon and Gloria Steinem.

Q. Why those three?

A. Well they're the founding …They're the founders. How can you call them mothers?

Good one, winifer! I'd read Steve Sailer's post this morning and got a real kick out of it. It seems to me that the whole women's movement was conflicted between "we're equal" and "we're different" and the hardest part was knowing which was properly applied in which circumstances.

Betty Friedan was one of the world's most shameless and prolific liars. Sailor does the job on her that needed to be done.

She was from Peoria, Illinois. Don't know why my home state, in addition to producing such legends as Honest Abe and Dutch, also producing some of the most insane poseurs and con artists. Ward Churchill also hails from Illinois.
