In which a group of graying eternal amateurs discuss their passions, interests and obsessions, among them: movies, art, politics, evolutionary biology, taxes, writing, computers, these kids these days, and lousy educations.

Blogaversaries

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

It's happy blogaversary to some showstoppingly good bloggers: supersharp and ever-flirty Alias Clio; that poetic muser-in-the-city Bixblog; and Roissy, whom no one will ever be able to accuse of having come out of the gate on timid feet.

Best,

Michael

Thanks, Michael. Clio thinks that a generation of people raised on MTV, like your younger readers (assuming there are any), must be awfully disappointed when they arrive at her blog which you variously describe as sexy and flirty and find her mortal's very tame and mostly sexless writing. Ah well, I expect it's Clio's fault for choosing such a prim and timid mouthpiece.

Well I for one am glad that Clio's mortal engages in largely sexless writing. God only knows there are enough - too many? - blogs out there which do otherwise.

That's funny coming from one of the major pervy horndogs of the entire interwebs. (No disrespect! I'm one too! Though not sharing your particular, ah, preference.)

clio flirts all the time. She's not sexless at all. It's just that she's an intellectual flirt. Don't believe in those? Well...I seem to remember a Woody Allen film (one of his serious ones, you know, about Anglos) where Sandy Dennis accused Gena Rowlands of "intellectually seducing" her husband. I knew what poor old Sandy meant then, and I'm pretty sure clio knows what I mean now. I mean, she's got Roissy wrapped around her little finger! Not a mean feat, I should say.

"wrapped around her little finger"

Uh-oh. Now Clio is in trouble. This statement will perhaps prompt an explosion of macho self-assertion from our man Roissy, replete with every imaginable vulgarity, and some not so imaginable, as Roissy is nothing if not inventive in his use of profanity. You just watch.
