What All Kinds of People Like

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

Via Ilkka and TGGP, a few fun and informative variations on Stuff White People Like: Stuff Black People Like; Stuff Asian People Like; Stuff Educated Black People Like.

I think it's great when people are frank and funny about group habits, tastes, and preferences, don't you? Let's have a little more earthy, good-natured rowdiness and a whole lot less denial.

Best,

Michael

They must hate Hispanic people. Aren't Hispanic people good enough for a list?

What about Eskimos? Or Native Americans?

I can't believe you'd support a racist list like this. You must be white.

The thing I like most about asians is they don't smile. They feel no need to fake the American smiley face. So they don't. Good for them. At least I know where I stand with asians. Strictly business. None of that false friendliness that can drive you crazy.
They're almost as good at not smiling as the Frogs. Keep practicing I say and someday you'll be cold as a Frenchman.

The person running these websites is an advertising genius. Eventually "What ___ People Like" will be specific products.

The spinoffs are not as witty as the original.

I've tried to get into the white people's comments, but they inevitably devolve into incredibly serious discussions of the "issues."

White people are very serious.

Now you see why there are so many Af-Am comedians and no East Asians.

I think the spinoffs are missing the point. Stuff White People Like is self-deprecating. The others are self-promoting.

The SWPL site has the odd--perhaps intended--effect of making me doubt that I'm white. Or maybe I'm just old and out of it; I recognize the cleverness of many of the observations but seldom feel that they dsecribe me or many of the people I know.

As to the new Rugby line of clothes . . . gawd, spare me. Those models look like zombies, and I doubt that they'd survive the wind of a real rugby player running by. Just another fashion scam, I guess.

I rather like a glass of NZ Sauvignon Blanc.

I came across the Stuff White People Like site recently. Strange... I thought I was white but I like hardly anything that guy says white people like so I guess that means I'm really black. Or maybe Asian. I can't tell anymore.

Dear Blowhards,

Will you put Stuff Asian People Like - www.stuffasianpeoplelike.net on your blogroll? Thanks a bunch!
