In which a group of graying eternal amateurs discuss their passions, interests and obsessions, among them: movies, art, politics, evolutionary biology, taxes, writing, computers, these kids these days, and lousy educations.

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

The backlash has begun. And what's become of iLife '07 anyway?

Best,

Michael

I don't own an iPod or other MP3 player. I don't want one. I don't own any Apple products, though I had a PowerBook 165 a few years ago. I don't own a cell phone. I suppose that makes me a disinterested observer.

I saw a couple of clips of Jobs's demo on the evening news, and all I can say is that the design of the iPhone seems so obviously superior and elegant it surprises me no one thought of it before. If I wanted a device like this, then I would certainly want this one.

Nikki Finke's reaction to the introduction of the iPhone was particularly over the top.
