In which a group of graying eternal amateurs discuss their passions, interests and obsessions, among them: movies, art, politics, evolutionary biology, taxes, writing, computers, these kids these days, and lousy educations.

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

* So spoiling-the-kids-while-pushing-them-too-hard has gone worldwide. Thanks to Prairie Mary for pointing out this Telegraph article about the child-raising habits of upper-middle-class English parents.

* More babies are entering the world already overweight.

Best,

Michael
