The Dormitory Boys

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

Have y'all caught up with the oeuvre of The Dormitory Boys? In the very competitive webcam-karaoke field, they seem to be the guys to beat. (UPDATE: make that "webcam/lip-synching field." Thanks to Robert for the correction.)

Best,

Michael

I think the Milk & Cereal guys came first, followed by their legion of imitators. But the two Chinese guys seem to be dominating the field ever since, proving all of Pat Buchanan's worst fears.

Sublime stuff, good for a genuine laugh. Technically speaking, though, isn't this lip-synching rather than karaoke?

Brian -- Thanks again. I wonder if some prof is at work writing the history of the form.

Robert -- Right you are, tks. Lip-synching, karaoke -- all these new-media forms confuse me. It's too much for my poor brain. I'll go correct now.

I still love the numa-numa kid, but the genius of the Chinese boys lies in their use of the silent third party. What the hell was that other guy thinking while this was going on?
