In which two graying eternal amateurs discuss their passions, interests and obsessions, among them: movies, art, politics, evolutionary biology, taxes, writing, computers, these kids these days, and lousy Ivy educations.

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

* Here's a brilliant idea for a blog. Matthew posts MP3s of songs he likes, and then writes comments about them. I've been taste-testing some of the tunes, and can report that I'm feeling a little younger and hipper than I usually do.

* I've been exploring the video-clip collections that can be found here and there around the web. Posters seem most drawn to sexy commercials, skateboarder wipeouts, fistfights and car crashes. Here's an effective reminder to wear your damn seatbelt.
