Pole Dancing

Michael Blowhard writes:

Dear Blowhards --

Is this Bob Fosse-worthy performance by Australian pole dancer Felix Cane art? Dance? Soft-core porn? Sport?

My take: I don't care. I love it, it's amazing, and that's all that really matters to me. Sure is fun to think about the above questions, though.

Bonus links: Many more intoxicating performances on video at Felix Cane's website. A "Will porn ever be considered to be art"? yakfest here at 2Blowhards.

Best,

Michael

Those inclined to, as the greeting on a complimentary Chinese-restaurant calendar put it, Enjoy Newly Taste! in the form of Chinese women who have recently taken up the noble art of ro-dancing the pole, see my post, Did you ever see a pole dancing (Jiang Li did)? or, They all have poles to writhe upon (except for Lin Tai Yu), e.g.:

Luo Lan likes her red pole, Zhang Jian says it’s blue
They all have poles to writhe upon except for Lin Tai Yu
Zipping up in knee-highs, playing strippy games -
Hiding out on cell-phones, shouting out rude names…
Swinging on poles we spruce up our souls by the seaside!
Swinging on poles we prick up the proles in the province!
Watch us rock out!
If poles can hold they make us so bold!
We’re dames without frontiers – fit without fears!

To me, it registers as athleticism and sport.
It's public and practiced. I would take my kids to this.

Hahaha, I read that last line as: A "will porn ever be considered art" yaNkfest...

Does that make me a bad person?

A fun performance too watch but too stylized to be serviceable porn.

I just showed this to my wife after I exclaimed (in jest) that I want to become a pole dancer!

She was amazed, and wants to forward this link to all her modern dance friends.

This reminded me of nothing so much as a Cirque de Soleil performance. Quite breathtaking, not in any way erotic.

Impressive! Thanks for sharing :)

Solid areté with the poles

Definitely amazing. And while it is somewhat erotic... not too much so. It's more athleticism than anything.

Oh what I wouldn't do to move like that.

And have a grip like that... and I am NOT talking about her hand grip. :)

That chick know pole.

"Felix"?

I find it erotic because the dancer has a great body, scantily clad. However, if it turns out "Felix" is a guy, that would undercut the eroticism completely.
